Background
Staffordshire-based H & R Johnson Tiles Limited, is the UK's leading manufacturer of ceramic wall and floor tiles. Following a long relationship with Live Expertise covering two generations of web site, in 2006 H & R Johnson Tiles Limited took the decision to trial a direct-to-customer web sales channel, to compliment its existing factory shop.
Challenge
- Update the existing website to include customer login facilities
- Provide full basket and order management functions
- Provide a bridge to internal business systems for orders and prices
- Integrate with third-party e-payment provider
- Leverage existing investment in content management tools
Solution
Live Expertise used the existing Live Ultimate solution and added our Ultimate e-commerce module functionality to provide a management framework to drive the new online shop.
Offering product search, integration with order handling processes and email notification of new order placement, the online shop offers purchase of tiles by the carton, or as samples. Orders can be delivered, or collected direct from the factory if desired.
Online payments are collected using third-party e-payment services from WorldPay, and order fulfilment tracking is reflected back to the customer through a customer login area.
Since launch, the online shop facility has generated a steadily increasing volume of orders, and this has been achieved with little supporting marketing activity. Adding other online and offline marketing initiatives is expected to provide significant growth in online trade over the coming months.
